Halloween and a poll for the sweet tooths

October 30th, 2009

(Or is it sweet teeth?) Tomorrow is Halloween, and to celebrate, here are a few spooky items made by some über-talented folks; these should get you in the spirit…

  2. Zombies vs. Townspeople Checker Set by PsAndQs
  3. Tiny Ghost and Goblin Necklace by AnoriginalJewelry
  4. Bunny Rabbit Feltidermy Headpiece by girlsavage

  7. Bats Tattoo Tights by post

And now, a favour to ask of you… it’s somewhat related to Halloween because it has to do with candy. We’re going to have a candy buffet at our wedding (in less than a month, yipes)… and I would love to know: What sweets should we include in the candy buffet?

Please leave a comment and let me know your favourite sweets. I’ll draw a name on November 12 (two weeks from now) at 9 a.m. EST from those who are kind enough to weigh in, and send the winner a whack of greeting cards or holiday gift tags, whichever they choose. THANKS!

Happy haunting :)

Hey M! Thanks so much for including my soapies in your write up :)

My favorite candies are blue whales, swedish berries and lick-n-sticks. I like the old “vintage” candy the best

OOOOhhhhh…. Someone beat me to the hot lips. They are my fave. I wonder if you can find some conversation hearts at this time of year?
And how about some old fashioned candy sticks. They are so pretty, and maybe there is a yummy flavour/colour to match your colour theme?
Oh… and jelly beans. I love jelly beans!!

Hahaha…. I could go with this theme forever.

What a great idea! I love gummy bears and jelly beans. And anything chocolate of course :)

I love chocolate, so any chocolate minis, like hershey’s, Krackle, etc. And then old school candy like smarties or nerds would be awesome!

I’ve seen candy bars at several weddings and birthday parties. The one that succeeded most adhered to the colour scheme chosen for the wedding and worked well with the table the candy bar was setup on.

The chosen candy were displayed in large decorative glassware and became part of the display. It was as much a feast for the eyes as the palate.

In the glassware were translucent wrappered salt water taffy, various gummies like Maynard’s fuzzy peaches and sour patch kids, coloured mints, and gum balls, everything small enough to be scooped from the glassware with ease and everything ensuring minimal mess for guests.

My favourite from that candy bar were the pink and white salt water taffy.

Sour Patch Kids are my fave candy so that’s what I would go crazy for! Other suggestions – sweettarts, swedish berries, mike & ikes, jelly beans…

I love the ideas everyone has had so far. I’d include some mints (scotch or english mints), lollypops, and licorice (especially the ones that have coloured fillings)

Drool. So..bascially. I am a fan of anything sweet.
