How to ruin a perfectly good picture

John has a box of old camera equipment — lenses, film SLRs, gadgets; the box usually sits untouched in the office closet. John does a lot of reading about different photographic techniques and geekery, then tries them out. Today, he did just that. He pulled out the long-ignored box o’ goodies, dusted of his Contax RTS (circa 1975), and coupled it with his much newer digital point-and-shoot to conduct a very serious experiment:
