Because who wouldn’t want an ab crunch on their birthday cake?
For some strange reason, I have a bunch of funny thoughts and memories all tied to Dairy Queen. My sister had her first (non-babysitting) job there, and I lived for lime Mr. Misty’s back then. To this day, a chocolate-dipped cone is still one of my favourite summer treats. And coincidentally, I just came back from a little get-together with friends where we ate DQ cake — I frikkin’ love that chocolate cookie layer!
So what on earth do the following photos have to do with all this???
Well, these are all snapshots of a DQ cake design catalog. I took these pics LAST WEEK.
A few years ago at a local DQ, I saw one of these catalogs out on the counter and flipped through it. Inside was a design of an Asian man wearing a pointed hat, with massive buck teeth, and a pagoda in the background. As a joke (and as a bit of a statement), a friend and I ordered that exact design for a buddy’s birthday cake. I couldn’t believe they honoured the request; the poor kid who took my order wasn’t too sure what to make of the situation.
Anyway, that particular design wasn’t in the catalog I took photos of — I think they took out some of the more outdated pages (!!!). I’m even excluding a couple of shots that I took, just in case your kid is looking at this.
The next time you’re at a DQ, ask to see the cake design catalog… hours of entertainment, laughs, horror and incredulity.

Those are awesome!
HAha. I had my very first date in the 3rd grade at DQ. My husband used to work at DQ. I never did get an ice cream cake though. I always wanted one. And now I’m gluten free, so sadly, I’ll never get to experience the joy.
Totally funny pictures though, haha.
These are so great! I wish I lived across the Atlantic so that I could go to a Dairy Queen & check it out!
OMG Aaron is totally getting the computer cake for his birthday.
hey! that picture of me doing my ab workout has got to be some kind of copyright infringement!
OMG…. too funny. Thanks for giving me a reason to go to DQ!
what’s with the ancient computer? is that a commodore 64 or what?!!! i love it!
Those are awesome! Thanks for the laugh :)
Classic! I worked as a cake decorator and I can relate! Love the football-riding babe.
