D.A.D. Giveaway — one day left!

July 6th, 2010

Just a quick note to remind or let you know that we’re having a one-month anniversary giveaway over at The D.A.D. Project. We’ll be drawing a winner at 9:00 a.m. EST tomorrow (July 7th), and the prize is two cds and a hand-printed t-shirt from singer/songwriter Meredith Luce:

Please drop by and enter, and feel free to spread the word!

.

p.s. You may have heard Meredith’s name here before, since I’ve posted videos of her performances in past. And as a fun aside, John and my first dance at our wedding was her song “Chickadee” — such a terrific tune.

Golden giveaway…

March 1st, 2010

Thanks to everyone who entered and helped spread the word! Congrats to Laurie St-Julien, who won the hockey tickets — and to Aaron Byrne, who gets to choose an item from my etsy shop.

This contest is now closed, but keep your eyes peeled for others to come :)

I’m still full of pride over Canada’s Olympic showing… (even the barfy Nickleback performance at the Closing Ceremony couldn’t take that away from me!). I’m so happy, in fact, that I’m giving stuff away, and soon!!!

UP FOR GRABS:

  1. One pair of tickets to the Ottawa Senators vs. Toronto Maple Leafs hockey game on Saturday, March 6th, 2010, 7:00 p.m. (in Ottawa); 2nd level seats on the visitor’s end, plus a parking voucher.
  2. Any item in stock at my etsy shop — so that I’m not excluding all the non-local folks!

HOW TO ENTER:

  • Leave a comment on this post, letting me know if you are entering to win (a) the tickets, (b) an item from my shop, or (c) either = 1 entry

Additional Entries:

  • Leave a comment and let me know what you thought of the Olympics — an outstanding moment, a memorable event, good or bad = 1 entry
  • Join my facebook group, and let me know you’ve done so in a comment here; if you already are a member, just let me know in a comment here = 1 entry
  • Tweet about the giveaway; make sure to include @mchenwears in the text, and leave a link to the tweet in a comment here = 1 entry

NITTY GRITTY — THE RULES:

  1. Maximum number of entries per person = four. It doesn’t matter to me if you leave just one comment with all of them, or a separate comment per entry; it’s up to you!
  2. In order to be eligible to win the hockey tickets, you must be able to (a) use them yourself and (b) pick them up from me before gametime on Saturday (I’m in downtown Ottawa).
  3. Anyone in the world is eligible to win the item from my shop — hurray for mail.
  4. Be sure to leave me an email address to reach you to let you know if you’ve won.
  5. I will draw winners for the two prizes on Wednesday, March 3rd, 11:00 p.m. EST (two separate draws, one per prize), using random.org
  6. For the hockey tickets draw: winner will have 24 hours to respond to my notification email; if I haven’t heard back at that point, I will notify the next three drawn people, and award the tickets to the first person who responds.

GOOD LUCK!!! and thanks for dropping by. Whew, Shaun Majumder’s theories may have held some weight after all (see last post).

postscript — I’m also pretty excited because I’ll be back to printing soon… more of what’s sold out, and a couple of extra designs to come too. I’ll be sure to gab about it here once everything’s under way!

What’s in a name (part III)? The risqué baking version.

January 19th, 2010

Obviously, I like name stories (ie. Uncle Carton and Bon Jovi)… and at the risk of being bombarded by even more spam than usual, I thought I’d share another funny one here.

You know that silly game of figuring out your porn name by taking [your first pet's name] + [your Mom's maiden name]? Well, when I do that, my handle is:

Muffin Pan

Seriously. And yes, I know there’s another version where you take [your middle name] + [the street you grew up on], but Sue LaVerendrye just doesn’t have the same ring.

What’s your triple-X alias? Let me know in a comment here, and I’ll send a whack of greeting cards to a randomly drawn one of you at the end of the month :)

The photo above is of raspberry walnut oatmeal muffins I baked the other night in our brand new muffin pans (which is what made me think of this post in the first place). So okay, I’ve decided that wedding registries aren’t 100% evil.
