And now, a favour to ask of you… it’s somewhat related to Halloween because it has to do with candy. We’re going to have a candy buffet at our wedding (in less than a month, yipes)… and I would love to know: What sweets should we include in the candy buffet?

Please leave a comment and let me know your favourite sweets. I’ll draw a name on November 12 (two weeks from now) at 9 a.m. EST from those who are kind enough to weigh in, and send the winner a whack of greeting cards or holiday gift tags, whichever they choose. THANKS!

It’s… a blog!

December 10th, 2008

[From December 3rd, 2008]

So as much as it feels like I’m speaking to an empty room right now, I’ll post something anyway. I have all sorts of reasons for starting a blog, and all sorts of reasons why I shouldn’t (not the least of which is that I already spend way too much time in front of my computer)… but alas, I’ve decided to give it a spin.
As this is my first ever blog entry, it made me think of a bunch of other things that I experienced for the first time this year. So far, 2008 has been a year of new experiences for me, it would seem. This year, for the very first time in my life, I…

- ate an olive with pimento

- jumped off a rock into a lake

- participated as a vendor in a craft show (and then got addicted and did more)

- grew my own veggies

- started up an online store

- got winter tires (ok, John gets all the credit for doing that for me)

- canned veggies and salsa

- dressed up as a cowgirl

- was in a documentary about the Bourbon Tabernacle Choir — my favourite band in the 90’s (and which aired on the Independent Film Channel on Tuesday, Dec. 2nd…! I made it onto the screen for a whole 0.27 seconds

- went to Newfoundland

- gave one of my tees to Bryan Adams

- made coleslaw from scratch

A kinda packed last few months so far.

So… why am I here? Well, it’s definitely a self-indulgent thing to have one of these blog things, isn’t it?… but I figure, (1) it’ll be a really fun way to share goings-on and pics with friends and fam — namely those who are anti-facebook; (2) maybe it’ll be a bit of an outlet for me… as someone who works at home all day, I do have a tendency to talk to myself a lot!; (3) hopefully this’ll be a way for me to help get traffic to my sites, which are being revamped as I type; and (4) I do find that time flies like a mofo these days, and this will help me record all the stuff I’ve been getting into — I look forward to looking back at this record and reminding myself of all the stuff I did.
