Bumblebee rescue!

This past Tuesday, John and I saved a bumblebee from certain death… Pamela Anderson would be proud.

  • 11:54 a.m. — Bumblebee enters my office through storm window hole and proceeds to buzz loudly, trying frantically to get back out. Off and on, over the next 6 hours, he continues to try.
  • 5:26 p.m. — John gets home from work. Buzzing has ceased, so I figured the bee had found its way out.
  • 5:37 p.m. — I notice the bee on the office carpet, crawling along, looking entirely spent and exhausted. I run to find something to pick him up with, but when I get back, he’s gone.
  • 5:43 p.m. — John spots the bee back on the window sill… He covers one end of a toilet paper roll and tries to ‘guide’ the bee back to one of the storm window holes. But the fatigued bee won’t leave.

  • 5:51 p.m. — After several failed attempts to coax the bee to fly out… John covers the open end of the roll with paper, and we scurry to our balcony. Again, the bee wouldn’t fly away on his own, so John ‘pours’ him out onto the table. We watch as the bee just sits there.
  • 6:02 p.m. — We figure the guy’s probably famished, so John pours some honey onto a piece of paper and places it in front of the patient… the bee goes to TOWN (as you can see from the video). He drinks for the next couple of hours; at one point, I think he is probably drunk.
  • 8.17 p.m. — We go back out for the dozenth time to check on him, and the bee is gone… Woohoo!

I’m really loving the theme/design of your weblog. Do you ever run into any internet browser compatibility issues? A handful of my blog visitors have complained about my website not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Opera. Do you have any suggestions to help fix this issue?
