Heavens to etsy: modernemotive

February 2nd, 2009

Twitter has been introducing me to some fine fine folks of late… and one who stands out of the crowd is modernemotive — who is actually a sweet gal named Adele. A fellow freelance designer who lives down the road in Toronto, we’ve connected on a few levels.

Adele has some terrific valentines listed in her shop. This one makes me want to pass a note under my desk to someone:

SALE Spread the Love - Psst... I have a crush on you

And this one makes me wanna break out the ol’ Dymo tag-maker:

SALE Spread the Love - Psst, I love you...

She does some terrific stuff with patterns, like so:

Floral Hellos - Set of 6 Cards

On top of being well-designed and funky, these cards (and the whole modernemotive line) is eco-friendly; the paper she prints on is 100% post-consumer waste (it’s actually the exact same stock I use for my cards… another bonding realisation!).

Plus, she has a great blog and the cutest husky dog you’ve ever seen. This foray into freelancing is brand new for Adele; something tells me that it’s going to go just swimmingly!

Heavens to etsy: Jess Gonacha

January 22nd, 2009

This week, I met Jessica Gonacha, and she took me waaaayyy back to the drawing games of yore… her sweet ‘critters and creatures alphabet poster’ is based on drawings she did with her Mum, when they turned letters into personalities:

All around her shop are quirky characters, vibrant colours and thoughtful words…

i am so in love with you

She also has some of the sweetest funky valentine cards around:

AND it turns out that Jessica also designs fabrics — how dang COOL is that??? Beautiful patterns and colours, like so:

To top it all off, she’s a sweetie. I have a bit of a soft spot for Jessica (and not just because her name is fun to say). I just joined the nutty world of Twitter last week, and it’s overwhelming to say the least; I met Jessica there and she’s been über-welcoming to a newbie and stranger.

Check out this nicey’s shop and website — and be charmed!
